TCF Canada
There’s no central booking site: each approved centre sells its own seats, on its own schedule. Here’s the whole path, from choosing a centre to holding your results.
The path
IRCC accepts TCF Canada for Express Entry, other economic programs and citizenship. It’s a different test from TCF Québec and TCF Tout public, so make sure you book TCF Canada. All four tests are compulsory, including for citizenship. See TCF vs TEF if you’re still choosing.
Look up your target NCLC (for example NCLC 7 for the Express Entry French bonus) and what it means in TCF scores with the NCLC converter. It tells you how much preparation to plan before your date.
Use the test centre finder to compare dates, fees and distance. Each centre page tells you whether seats appear on a live counter, open at an announced time, go through a waiting list, or get added without warning.
Most centres book online: create your account early and have your identity document at hand. Enter your name exactly as it appears on the ID you’ll bring on exam day. Each centre sets its own ID rule, so read it on the centre’s page.
When your date opens, book straight away: popular sessions can sell out in minutes. The fee is set by the centre, not by France Éducation international, and it’s shown on each centre page with the date we read it.
The centre confirms your place and sends a convocation with the time and room. Check the details, and contact the centre if anything is wrong.
Use the prep plan on your centre’s page to map out the weeks: a level check, a full mock test, work on your weakest skill, then a second mock.
Arrive early with your ID. The tests take about 167 minutes in total, and you’re photographed on the day at IRCC’s request. Results arrive within 15 working days after France Éducation international receives the session, and are valid for 2 years.
Seats go fast
At the busiest centres we’ve watched openings sell out in minutes. Be logged in before booking opens, with your ID and payment card at hand, and keep a second centre in mind.
Before you click “book”
| Have ready | Why |
|---|---|
| Your identity document | Your name must match it, and you’ll bring it on exam day. |
| Your target NCLC per skill | So you choose a date that leaves enough time to prepare. |
| Account at the centre | Creating it during a seat release can cost you the seat. |
| Payment card | Some centres hold the seat only once you pay. |
| A backup centre and date | If your first choice sells out while you’re booking. |
After the exam
Results arrive within 15 working days after France Éducation international receives the session. They’re valid for 2 years, and for Express Entry IRCC needs them to be valid both when you create your profile and when you submit your application.
Missed your target? You can sit TCF Canada again after 20 days. Many candidates book their next date as soon as they know they need it, then use the weeks in between on the weakest skill.
