Privacy policy

NCLC French helps you prepare for the TCF Canada. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain.
What we collect
Account data: your name, email address and a securely hashed password, or your basic Google profile if you sign in with Google.
Practice data: your answers, scores and the feedback generated for them, saved to your dashboard when you’re signed in.
On this device only: an unfinished test is saved in your browser’s local storage so you can resume it. It never leaves your device unless you save a result to your account.
Technical data: standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) kept for security and abuse prevention.
Microphone and recordings
The speaking section uses your microphone only while you are answering. Speech is transcribed by your browser’s speech-recognition feature; we do not store audio recordings.
To score writing and speaking or to run the practice examiner, the text of your answer is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) for processing. It isn’t used to identify you.
How we use data
To run the service: score tests, show your progress and keep your account secure.
To improve the service in aggregate. We do not sell your personal data and we don’t use third-party advertising trackers.
Retention and your rights
We keep your account data while your account is active. You can ask us to export or delete your data at any time by emailing [email protected]. We respond within 30 days.
Canadian residents have rights under PIPEDA; residents of other regions (for example the EU/UK under the GDPR) have equivalent rights of access, correction and deletion.
Cookies
We use only essential cookies: a session cookie to keep you signed in and a preference for light or dark mode. No analytics or advertising cookies are set without your consent.
