Quick answer

For NCLC 7 (around B2) you need to control the past tenses (passé composé, imparfait, plus-que-parfait), the future and the conditional, the three si-clause patterns, the subjonctif after il faut que, bien que and pour que, relative pronouns including dont, and object pronouns with y and en. This sheet gives each rule in one line with an example, then the 20 errors that cost the most marks.

What grammar NCLC 7 needs

Neither test has a separate grammar paper for Canada, but grammar is everywhere: it is judged in writing and speaking, and the TEF reading test has a block of sentences and texts with gaps. At B2 you are expected to use complex sentences with few errors. One correct si j'avais… or bien que ce soit… shows range; ten simple sentences do not. Linking words and set phrases are on the writing phrases cheat sheet.
