Our mission

For many Express Entry candidates, French is the single biggest lever: NCLC 7 in all four skills opens French-language draws and adds bonus CRS points. Yet good preparation is scattered, expensive, or mixed with claims nobody can verify.

We want any candidate, anywhere, to be able to measure their level for free, practise in the real format, and understand exactly what their score means, with every immigration number linked to its official source.

Who it's for

Express Entry candidates who want NCLC 7 in French for the French-language category or the bonus points. Start with the French for Express Entry guide and the CRS calculator.

Permanent residents applying for citizenship who need to prove CLB/NCLC 4 in speaking and listening. See French for Canadian citizenship.

Learners choosing a test: our TCF Canada vs TEF Canada comparison explains the differences in format and scoring.

How the practice tests are built

Every practice question is original. We write it in the published format of each test (number of questions, timings, task types) as described by France Éducation international for the TCF Canada and CCI Paris Île-de-France for the TEF Canada. We never publish real or leaked exam questions.

Listening and reading questions are scored automatically and converted to an estimated level. Listening audio uses synthetic French voices generated from our own scripts.

Writing and speaking answers can be scored by AI against the published marking criteria. The result is an estimate with feedback, not an official score. When AI scoring is unavailable, we say so and show a clearly labelled rough estimate instead.

Score-to-NCLC conversions use the tables IRCC publishes on canada.ca. Our NCLC score converter shows the exact table it uses.

How we handle immigration facts

Immigration rules change. Every page that states an immigration number links to canada.ca or the test owner and shows the date we last verified it. Proposals and consultations are labelled as proposals until IRCC publishes a change.

Our news section covers Express Entry draws and rule changes for French-speaking candidates, and the draw tracker is built from IRCC's official rounds data. The full rules are in our editorial policy.

Who writes our content

Articles and news are written and fact-checked by the NCLC French editorial team. We don't publish bylines for people who don't exist, and we don't claim credentials we don't have.

NCLC French is an exam-prep platform, not an immigration consultancy. Nothing on the site is legal or immigration advice. For advice on your situation, use a licensed professional, such as a regulated Canadian immigration consultant or lawyer.

Independence

NCLC French is independent. We are not affiliated with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), France Éducation international (which runs the TCF Canada) or CCI Paris Île-de-France (which runs the TEF Canada). TCF and TEF are trademarks of their owners.

Our scores are practice estimates. Only the official tests produce results IRCC accepts.
