French verb conjugation practice: shoot hoops with the right form
Le panier
French verb conjugation practice, basketball style: each shot gives you a pronoun, a verb and a tense, and three hoops carry three forms of that verb. Flick the ball into the right one before the shot clock runs out. Thirty levels take you from the présent of être and avoir to the subjonctif at exam speed, until forms like nous irons or qu’il fasse come without thinking, and you know why the others were wrong.

How to play
- 1Read the prompt: a pronoun, a verb and a tense, like “nous · aller · futur”.
- 2Flick the ball toward the hoop with the right form, or tap the hoop. Farther hoops score more.
- 3A wrong form rims out: you see the right one and how it’s built. Score enough points for up to three stars.
What it trains
Producing the right form of the 65 verbs that appear most in exam French, in the six tenses you need: présent, passé composé, imparfait, futur simple, conditionnel and subjonctif. The wrong hoops are the real traps: the conditionnel instead of the futur (nous irions for nous irons), the wrong person (ils iront), or the présent instead of the subjonctif (que je fais for que je fasse).
Why it matters for TCF and TEF Canada
In the TCF Canada and TEF Canada writing and speaking tests, examiners judge how well you control grammar, and verb forms are where most errors show. Accurate conjugation lets you tell a story in the past, make plans, give advice and argue a point, which is what the writing and speaking tasks ask for at the levels Canada looks at, from NCLC 4 for citizenship to NCLC 7 for Express Entry points.

Rules and tips to remember
Futur or conditionnel? Listen to the ending
Both use the same stem. The futur ends like avoir in the présent (j’irai, nous irons), the conditionnel takes the imparfait endings (j’irais, nous irions).
Learn irregular stems, not whole tables
The futur and the conditionnel share one stem per verb: ir- (aller), fer- (faire), pourr- (pouvoir), viendr- (venir). Know the stem and all twelve forms follow.
Watch the être verbs
Verbs of movement like aller, venir, partir, sortir take être in the passé composé, and the participle agrees: elle est allée, ils sont partis.
