French vocabulary game: blast the right word
Météores
A meaning, a French word or a sound appears at the top, and meteors fall carrying the possible answers. Tap the right one before it hits your planet. 30 levels go from reading A2 words to hearing B2 words at exam speed, and each wave falls faster than the last.

How to play
- 1A meaning, a word or a sound appears at the top.
- 2Meteors carry the possible answers: tap the right one (or press its number).
- 3Each wave is faster. Three wrong answers and the round is over.
What it trains
Fast recognition of exam vocabulary in both directions (French to English and English to French) and by ear, on 12 themes such as work, housing, health and immigration.
Why it matters for TCF and TEF Canada
In the reading and listening sections there is no time to translate word by word. Recognising a word in under a second frees your attention for the meaning of the whole sentence, which is what the multiple-choice questions test.

Rules and tips to remember
Replay a level for three stars
Each level of the first worlds keeps to two themes (work and education, housing and transport…), so the same family of words comes back. Replaying a level until you get three stars makes them stick.
Say the word as you tap
Saying it aloud under time pressure links the written word to its sound, which pays off in the listening section.
Use the number keys on a laptop
Each meteor has a number. Pressing it is faster and more accurate than clicking.
