French adjective agreement practice: a mini golf game
Le minigolf
French adjective agreement takes one second to explain and months to get right under pressure. In this mini golf game every hole is a noun with a gap, and every cup carries one form of the adjective: petit, petite, petits or petites. Pull back, aim at the right flag and putt. Thirty levels take you from regular -e and -s to un vieil ami, mon ancien patron and quelque chose de bon, and every wrong cup shows you the rule.

How to play
- 1Read the phrase: a noun with a gap, and the adjective to fit in, in brackets.
- 2Pull back from the ball and let go toward the flag with the right form, or tap the flag.
- 3A wrong cup spits the ball out: you see the rule, all four forms, and why.
What it trains
Choosing the right adjective form for the noun’s gender and number, including the irregular families (-eux/-euse, -if/-ive, -al/-aux, -el/-elle, beau/bel/belle), putting adjectives before or after the noun, the adjectives whose meaning changes with their place (ancien, cher, propre, dernier), colour agreement (des yeux marron, des robes bleu clair) and the classic B2 traps.
Why it matters for TCF and TEF Canada
Agreement mistakes are the most visible errors in the TCF Canada and TEF Canada writing tasks: a missing -e or a wrong plural shows in almost every sentence. Examiners judge grammatical control and range, so getting une ville ancienne or des vêtements sociaux right, and placing adjectives the French way, helps you reach the NCLC 7 that Express Entry rewards.

Rules and tips to remember
Find the noun first, then its gender and number
The adjective copies the noun. If the determiner doesn’t say (les, des, l’), think of the noun with un or une: une affaire, so des affaires importantes.
BANGS go before, the rest after
Short adjectives of Beauty, Age, Number, Goodness and Size go before the noun (une jolie maison, un vieux pont). Colours, nationalities, shapes and participles go after: une voiture rouge.
A mixed group takes the masculine
One masculine noun is enough: un pantalon et une veste noirs. And after quelque chose de or rien de, the adjective stays masculine singular: quelque chose de bon.
