Alliance Française de Toronto

TCFTEF

Alliance Française de Toronto runs both TEF Canada and TCF Canada across four exam sites in the GTA: Spadina, North York, Mississauga and Oakville. Seats come out once a quarter at 10:00 a.m. Toronto time, and the release for January–March 2027 sessions is set for December 1, 2026. Booking is online only, and there is no waiting list, so the key is to be ready the moment a release goes live.

How this centre releases seats

Live seat counter
The centre lists each date with the seats left, and seats can appear at any time when dates are added or someone cancels.

Tips from candidates and the centre

  • One account and one active booking apply across all four sites. If Spadina is full, try North York, Mississauga or Oakville in the same release rather than waiting three months.
  • Do not book two dates as a backup. Sittings must be at least 20 days apart, and the centre cancels extra bookings inside that gap with no refund.
  • Send exam questions by email to the coordinator of the campus you booked. For TCF Canada, the centre says it does not take phone calls.
  • Refunds are not offered. Moving to another date or campus costs $100 and must be done at least 15 days before a computer-based session, or 30 days before a paper TCF. The credit stays valid for 6 months.
  • Be on time. Once the exam has started you will not be let in, it is treated as an absence, and you would have to pay the full fee again.
  • The computers use a US QWERTY keyboard with an on-screen keyboard for accents, so practise typing French that way. Bring photo ID that shows your date of birth, such as a passport, driver’s licence or national ID card; the centre also photographs you before the exam.
