The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) held two Expression of Interest draws in September 2026, on 10 September (#279) and 24 September (#280). Both included a dedicated Francophone selection, which invited 11 and 16 French-speaking candidates respectively.

What changed

For both Francophone selections, Manitoba considered profiles that declared French as their language of communication with the MPNP and included a valid French language test result. Manitoba did not publish a minimum ranking score for these selections.

The last column counts Skilled Worker Stream candidates who had already been invited by Manitoba through its Francophone Community strategic recruitment initiative. They are part of a separate selection, so the two columns are not added together here.

The rest of each draw went to other groups: in #280, 417 invitations went to Manitoba workers in natural and applied sciences occupations (lowest score 760); in #279, 508 went to Manitoba post-secondary graduates (lowest score 825) and 233 to health workers employed in Manitoba. Of all invitations, 148 in #280 and 272 in #279 went to candidates who declared a valid Express Entry profile.

This follows a federal project announced in July 2026: IRCC is funding a $1.3 million, 2-year project led by the Government of Manitoba to increase Francophone immigration to the province, through promotion abroad, digital tools and help with credential recognition for health professionals.

Who it affects

  • French speakers with a Manitoba Expression of Interest profile, particularly those who set French as their language of communication and entered a valid TCF Canada or TEF Canada result.
  • Candidates whose test is expiring. Manitoba notes that profiles were skipped if the language test number was missing or the result was no longer valid. Update your profile if that applies to you.
  • Express Entry candidates: a Manitoba nomination linked to Express Entry adds 600 CRS points, which is why PNP rounds have cut-offs above 690 (for example, 734 on 14 September 2026 and 725 on 28 September 2026).
